Exit Ticket
What did you learn today?
An exit ticket is a response that you take at the end of class form the students to gather what they have learned that day in class. This can be a simple question that you ask the students as they leave or you can have the students write down the answers to some summary questions from the class period. This helps to assess the students knowledge of a subject without grading what they have done for accuracy. With these exit tickets you can cover the material that is unclear in the next class period. You can show the wrong answers and also make sure that they are anonymous.
An exit ticket will help to gather information from students and keep it anonymous. Often times there are children that are shy and do not like to ask questions in class, but when students don't ask, we as teachers assume that everyone understands. by keeping the results of an exit ticket anonymous students will feel more secure with sharing their information and questions that they have. This will help students achieve a mastery goal frame of mind, because if students are not being criticized for a wrong answer then they can ask questions and learn from their mistakes or the mistakes of classmates.
You can take an exit ticket in the form of the example below.
